State JO Player Representative

Dan McElravy from Crete was once again elected to be the State JO Player Representative for the 2010 year. Dan is a real positive activist for the JO program and softball in general. Congratulations Dan!!

Individual Registration Program

All JO Teams that participate in ASA Championship play must register using the individual registration program. Any JO team who does not participate in Championship play will have an option to register either as a team or individually. JO Individual Fees - $16.00 per player / Team Fee - $22.00 per team. Registration fees are due by May 15, 2010.

It is imperative that teams get registered as soon as possible. Individual registration forms are found on the Nebraska Softball website.

All individual registration forms must be type written. It is highly recommended that they are emailed directly to Kurk Wiedel at kurk.wiedel@thayercentral.org

State Championship Roster Deadline

State rosters are due to me on or before June 1st. Three (3) copies of the championship roster and two (2) separate checks for $175 (Districts) and $225 (State). My address is: Kurk Wiedel, 1030 Barger, Hebron, NE 68370

New Playing Rule Change for the 2010 Season (JO only)

- The pitching distance for JO Girls Fast Pitch 18U & 16U will be 43 feet

New Rule/Code Changes for the 2010 Season

- District tournament fees are $175. State tournament fees are $225

- Individual registration fees are $16/player. Team registration fees are $22/team.

- JO State Champions will receive ASA t-shirt compliments of NSA.

- Coaches may wear jeans in championship play.

- College players that meet the age requirement may only participate in the A Class.

- High school players who registered individually in the summer are covered through Bollinger Insurance during their high school season.

- One coach per team MUST be ACE certified when competing in championship play. This must be renewed each year. This is done by going on-line, watching a video and answering questions. A certificate is mailed to each coach who certifies. Level 1 (first year) fees are $25. A background check is included with ACE certification. Each year thereafter is $20 (Level 2, Level 3, etc.) and will include a background check.

ACE is up and running.  Follow the directions that are posted on the ACE tab under youth softball on the NSA website.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THOSE WHO WERE ACE LAST YEAR FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE WHO WERE ACE CERTIFIED IN 2009.

Do not create a new profile because the email address is the identifier and by creating the new profile, it will make you begin with the ACE Level 1 again.

-All JO team personnel assisting within the field of play/dugout must have an ASA background check. The ASA background check can be done by clicking on a link on the website.

- Bollinger Insurance: If an individually registered player is injured during the season, they have 90 days to file a claim. Please make sure your families are aware that they need to get paperwork in as quickly as possible. All claims must be first sent to the district commissioner of each district. IN ORDER TO BE COVERED, YOU MUST BE COMPETING WITH AN ASA REGISTERED TEAM IN AN ASA GAME AND/OR ASA TOURNAMENT.

- The District Classification committee will make the decision on team classification without bias. The current District #7 Classification Committee is: Kurk Wiedel, Dan McElravy, Kim Gewecke and Pauline Quiring.
